Ballots begin mailing
October 5.
Voting ends November 3, 2026. The campaign’s voter-contact operation begins the moment ballots enter the mail.
Make a plan
Confirm your registration and address before ballots begin mailing. California voters can use the Secretary of State’s official voter-status tools.
Track your ballot
Sign up for California’s official ballot-status notifications so you know when your ballot is mailed, received, and counted.
Ask for help
A voter may designate another person to return a vote-by-mail ballot. California law sets rules for the designee, delivery timing, compensation, and ballot-envelope identification.
Ballot return assistance
The public form records only a request for assistance and status. It must never collect a vote choice, ballot image, signature, date of birth, driver’s-license number, or other voter-identification data. Actual custody of a sealed ballot must be recorded separately by trained campaign staff.
California Elections Code § 3017 permits a voter to designate another person to return a vote-by-mail ballot and restricts compensation based on the number of ballots returned. The campaign operation must also follow the ballot-envelope requirements in § 3011.
